WYD Seoul 2027 Days in the Diocese of Incheon

  • World Youth Day (WYD)

World Youth Day (WYD) is an international festival for young people from all over the world, hosted by the Holy See (the Vatican). In the summer of 2027, this global gathering will take place in Seoul. Co-organized by the Archdiocese of Seoul and all dioceses across Korea, the event is expected to welcome up to 1 million participants, including approximately 350,000 international pilgrims. Regardless of language, culture, or skin color, WYD serves as a place to experience the universality of the Church, where everyone confesses the same faith. It will be a precious opportunity for participants to confirm and profess their faith together. Furthermore, as an international event where young people engage with the local community, it will serve as an occasion to enhance South Korea’s global standing and national prestige.

  • Main Event and Days in the Diocese

WYD Seoul 2027 will span 11 days, from Thursday, July 29 to Sunday, August 8, 2027. The full itinerary consists of the Days in the Diocese (5 days) followed by the Main Event (6 days). The Days in the Diocese of Incheon will be held for 5 days (4 nights), from July 29 (Thu) to August 2 (Mon), within the Incheon area. These programs will be centered around local parishes and deaneries, featuring homestays, local cultural tours, and the Diocesan Mass.

The Diocese of Incheon plans to invite 10,000 young pilgrims. Through homestay programs, we aim to revitalize parish communities and provide a deep experience of the universal Church. Furthermore, through local explorations, we seek to promote service, contribution, and coexistence within the local community. These programs are designed not only for the youth but as an open festival where all faithful of the Diocese of Incheon and local citizens can walk together in solidarity.
